Carl Schirren Society
Collect - Preserve - Research - Share
After the war, Lüneburg developed into a center for Baltic Germans in the Federal Republic of Germany. The German-Baltic Cultural Association based here - consisting of the Carl Schirren Society and the German-Baltic Cultural Foundation - has set itself the goal of collecting, preserving and communicating the cultural heritage of the Baltic Germans and promoting research into it. To this end, it works closely with other scientific institutions and cultural organizations. Particular importance is attached - especially since the end of the Cold War - to contact with people and organizations in the former home countries of Estonia and Latvia and, more recently, Lithuania with its historically different development.
