zis Stiftung für Studienreisen

ZIS is a travel foundation that awards scholarships to young german-speaking people aged 16 to 20.

Participants choose a country and a topic that interests them, and then travel there alone for at least four weeks.

Traveling solo is intended to build confidence, independence, and openness, and it encourages more natural and meaningful encounters with other people.

There are two key rules: participants may not travel by plane, and they may spend no more than 800 euros.

With slower travel and a small budget, it becomes easier to connect with local communities and experience everyday life rather than typical tourism.

The aim of zis is to give young people challenges that help them grow and to promote intercultural exchange.

After the trip, each participant creates a report or another creative form of documentation to share their experiences and what they have learned.
