Tartu University, German Department

The Department of German Studies at the University of Tartu offers the opportunity to study German language, literature and culture at all three levels of higher education, from undergraduate to doctoral level.
In addition, the Department of German Studies offers a variety of German language courses for language enthusiasts. Their main areas of research are Baltic German language and culture, translation, cultural didactics and German literature. The Department of German Studies also has a long-standing and active
cooperation with the Universities of Göttingen and Potsdam, and they attach great importance to their students spending a semester abroad in Germany. They also offer German language tests in cooperation with the DAAD.
