Latvian Association of Teachers of German

The aim of the association's activities is

to maintain the cooperation of German teachers by promoting the exchange of specialists at home and abroad, increasing the qualification and popularizing the status of the German language here in the country.

The tasks of this activity are

To coordinate the exchange of opinions and experience in the country;
to participate in the further training of teachers
to provide German teachers with the latest information (the homepage www.dlvl.lv, the magazine “Mein Fach Deutsch” etc.)
to defend the professional interests of German teachers;
to promote understanding of the importance of language learning in the face of increasing globalization and the desire to preserve national identity;
to initiate and promote the experience of innovative language learning in Latvia;
to promote the professional development and lifelong education of German teachers;
to promote the participation of teachers and professionals of German in international projects.
Our activities:

* organizing the board meetings and German teachers' conferences in Latvia;
* regular publication of the magazine “Mein Fach Deutsch” (with the financial support of the Goethe Institute (GI) Riga);
* the organization of the German Olympics for pupils;
* cooperation with the GI Riga in the organization of the Baltic German Olympiad and the Baltic German Teachers' Days;
* initiating and organizing international and regional German teacher summer camps (with the financial support of GI Riga, DAG Lübeck, IDV and others)
* Initiating and organizing school competitions;
* Supporting summer camps for German students in Latvia and participation in international summer camps;
* cooperation with GI Riga in the field of German teacher training;
* cooperation with the representative office of Hueber Verlag in Riga;
* cooperation with the German teachers' associations of other countries (Estonia, Lithuania, etc.);
* participation in the work of the IDV and the Latvian Language Teachers' Association.
