Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e.V.
What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Cologne? Cologne Cathedral or the carnival. Have you ever heard of the Cologne Edelweiss Pirates? They were a colorful bunch of alternative youths who resisted the Nazis. How did a group of ‘misfits’ manage to fight against the Nazi regime despite repression and what happened to them?
Together with other young people from Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Finland and Belgium, you will find answers to these and many other questions in our project. You will visit historical sites and learn about the life of the outfits in Cologne at the time, take on light maintenance work as a sign of active commitment against discrimination and for democracy and enjoy your free time in the Rhine metropolis.
Summer in Cologne, time out on the Rhine!
