We are thrilled to announce the release of a new episode of our podcast "Empowering Tomorrow's European Leaders". This episode features not one, but two interview partners from the "Volksbund Deutscher Kriegsgräberfürsorge" (German War Graves Commission), and is now available for streaming on all major podcast platforms.

In our podcast, we provide a platform for experts in the field of youth work to share their insights and experiences, and to discuss the latest developments and challenges in European youth work.

In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Heike Dörrenbächer and Pawel Prokop from the German War Graves Commission („Volksbund deutscher Kriegsgräberfürsorge“) to discuss the work of the Volksbund. The commission was founded in 1919 and has been responsible for the care of German war graves since then. The War Graves Commission looks after more than 830 war gravesites in 46 countries with about 2.8 million war dead. It operates as the only war graves service in the world and extracurricular youth work as well as its own youth exchange and education centers. Our guests discuss the commission's mission of today, the challenges they face in their work, and the importance of youth work and international youth encounters.

The youth program of the German War Graves Commission is designed to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding among young people. Through a variety of educational initiatives and events, the program aims to instill in young people a sense of responsibility for the past and a commitment to building a better future. The German War Graves Commission also organizes educational tours for school groups and youth organizations, which include visits to war graves, memorials, and historical sites. Through these tours, young people have the opportunity to learn about the history of World War II and its impact on Europe, as well as the ongoing efforts to preserve the memory of those who died in the conflict.

We believe that the work of the German War Graves Commission is essential for the remembrance of war and the prevention of such. We hope that this episode will shed light on their important work, and inspire our listeners to take action in their own communities to promote peace and understanding.

We release new episodes every two months, and we invite you to subscribe to our podcast so you don't miss out on any future episodes.
